In the Spotlight…featured designer Sarah Vander Neut!
Meet Sarah! Sarah Vander Neut: Sarah Vander Neut was born in Eugene, Oregon in 1983. Drawing was a daily regimen for her growing up, and her ability to sew is due to her mother’s teaching. SVN received a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Boise State University and a Masters of Arts in Christians Studies from Denver Seminary. Also receiving a teaching credential from the University of Denver, SVN teaches art in the Cherry Creek School District as well as art history at Kilns College in Bend, Oregon. Her influences include Alexander McQueen, Kandinsky, Egyptian drapery, Native American symbolism, and graphic novels. SVN believes that sometimes the best thing an artist can make is time to imagine. She happily lives with her best friend and husband, Matt, in Denver. As always, Sarah uses fabrics recovered from second-hand oblivion, and salvaged materials for my accessories. Re-use is always at the forfront of my fashion ideals, which is not a sacrifice–it is a springboard for responsible innovation and beauty. For her FD4 collection she will be showcasing Fall/Winter 2011 designs and she will be taking orders for Jackets/shirts, purses, cowgirl boots/mocasins, fascinators/accessories/dinosaur hats.
